On Saturday, June 17, Quarterdeck’s newly renovated Boathouse Event Center hosted its first wedding reception, celebrating the marriage of Kate and Nate Ringdahl. Kate’s family owns a cabin just a few doors down from Quarterdeck. This proximity is what initially attracted the family to Quarterdeck as a location for the reception.
“My wife and I grew up in Nisswa,” said Ken Dayton, the bride’s father. “We were very familiar with Quarterdeck and its history. We knew about all the additions Quarterdeck was making over the past year, including the Boathouse.”
The ceremony took place at the Dayton’s cabin, just down the road from Quarterdeck. Afterward, guests were shuttled by golf carts back to the Quarterdeck Boathouse for the reception, which was catered by Jake’s Beach Grill. Guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers before the buffet dinner.
Over 230 guests attended the reception, many of whom took advantage of Quarterdeck’s lodge suites and lakeside cottages as a convenient place to spend the night after the dancing was done. The Ringdahl wedding guests booked up two-thirds of the lodge suites and all of the cottages.
“Everyone at Quarterdeck involved with the wedding worked really hard to make it a great success. PJ, the event planner went out of her way to make sure everything was carefully planned and ready,” said Ken. “We had some bad weather coming in on the day of the reception and they made sure that a tent was set up so we could still use the outdoor space.”
The mix of indoor and outdoor space at the Boathouse was a big plus for the Dayton-Ringdahl party. “It was really nice to be able to have an outdoor reception, with seating inside as well,” said Ken. “And the view of the lake is beautiful. You can’t get that view anywhere else. If I have another event to host in the future, I would use the Boathouse again.”
